Richard Attenborough - British character actor and film director. Born 29th August 1923, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. He has had long and distinguished career as both actor and director. Acting roles include his portrayal of Pinkie Brown in Brighton Rock (1947), John Reginald Christie in 10 Rillington Place (1971), and John Hammond in the Jurassic Park films. He direcorial skills include Gandhi (1982), which won eight Oscars, the biography of Charlie Chaplin - 'Chaplin' (1992), and 'Grey Owl' in 1999. Became a life peer in 1993.
